Baroness Kimberly Moore recently interviewed with “El Cucuy” an extraordinary humanitarian and one of the most popular Spanish DJ’s in the country with over 2.5 million listeners to talk about her Adopt A Letter program which answers letters from needy children in the community. Moore said 80% of the letter she receives are from primarily Latino children and families living Compton, Watts, Bell Garden, Bell, Downey, East LA, South Central, City of Industry, Cudahy etc.
Four years ago, Moore decided to give up her Christmas holiday in order to make Christmas special for those who needed most. “Every year children are asking for the simplest things that we take for granted” says Ms Moore. Children are not only asking Santa for toys, but for school supplies, sneakers, computers to do their homework, help in paying house bills and much more. Moore spends most of her time reading the letters, scanning and uploading them from the computer to her website the first half of December. The other half of the month she spends her time reaching out to friends, members of her Echelon Club and her followers to get as many letters adopted. Once a child’s wish is completed, the shopping then begins. Moore says, “This is my favorite part of the program, once you read the letter you are so eager to go out and buy what they asked for and you try to imagine their little faces when they receive it. I can barely sleep during the month of Christmas because of the excitement! ”
El Cucuy, who has donated millions of dollars through his humanitarian efforts in the U.S., Mexico and Central America, was moved by Ms. Moore’s generosity and offered to use his reach asking his listeners for help in adopting a letter of a child in need this Christmas. El Cucuy will partner up with Baroness Kimberly Moore and participate as a celebrity Santa, surprising children going from house to house delivering presents.
Moore was also very excited to announce the launch of her new app that gives back called, “The North Pole” which will give kids from around the world a direct line to Santa and include a variety of color pages and educational games to play. Proceeds of the app will allow her to grow her program and continue to adopt letters of underprivileged children around the world and outside of Christmas. Moore has put together a “call to action” for radio station listeners to join her cause and get involved directly from their cell phones by texting “North Pole” to 77577 to learn more about the program and it’s free! There, listeners are given the option to either “Adopt A Letter” of a child this Christmas, “Write a letter” for someone in need or “Share their story” of what they’ve done in the community to make a difference. All listeners will also receive more information on her new North Pole application available for all iphone, ipad and itouch users. 3 lucky winners will be chosen to participate as “Secret Santa” this holiday with Baroness Kimberly Moore and El Cucuy himself bringing smiles to children and families this holiday season.” For more information on how to help visit: www.adoptaletter.org
